Minnesota Department of Administration - Office of State Procurement

The Minnesota Department of Information Technology Services (MNIT) and the MN Department of Administration needed an experienced web agency to rebuild their existing OSP secure login site to the latest version of Drupal. They chose Nighthawk because of our in-depth knowledge in website planning, Drupal CMS, user experience (UX) research, architecture, design, and implementation.

Minnesota Department of Administration - Office of State Procurement Website

The Office of State Procurement (OSP), a division of the Minnesota Department of Administration, is the state of Minnesota's central procurement office. OSP's mission is to facilitate the strategic acquisition of goods and services for the state of Minnesota and other governmental entities.

The Need

The existing OSP website was running on outdated and unsupported technology, including Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2008, and Net 4.0 on Visual Studio 2010. The infrastructure posed a security risk in addition to a stability risk. Development work was also required to replace existing processes that publish content to webpages, update dynamic pages with information from external sources, and provide customer communication (i.e., bulk email).

The Solution

The new secure section of the Drupal website that was developed under this project was built to require little maintenance, while allowing OSP users to easily maintain the documents presented on the webpages and the list of users who can access them. The secure web content delivered in this project also integrated seamlessly with the static content on the public facing OSP website so users feel as though they are on the same website with the same branding including URLs, headers, footers, etc. Content from the existing secure webpages were migrated to the new site. This work resulted in a website that is on current secured technology (built with the latest version of Drupal), meets accessibility requirements, and allows OSP to keep documents up to date.
